Overdue Update

Well, since Thanksgiving, I guess we've had a few intereting things happening around here.

First, Jeremy managed to replace the civic with a new *gasp* HONDA accord. (Who would have thought he'd end up in yet another Honda?!)  Can't say he didn't try for something new though. As it turns out, Toyota couldn't get their hands on a Camry with a manual transmission - all for the best considering their recent recall.

We also traveled to Clemson for my first college basketball game. It was actually fun, to my surprise, and we got to witness the Illini come from behind and win from their largest deficit in school history. A few weeks later, we went to Gwinnet arena to watch them again and it was nowhere near as enjoyable.  The best part of that outing was eating at our favorite Mexican joint in Atlanta, Nuevo Laredo.

Next, on to Christmas... We had lots of fun hosting family this year. Jeremy's family came in early and we did a little sightseeing in Greenville. Christmas dinner was eventful with Aunt Liz and Uncle John coming down from Charlotte with all the cousins, which is a rarity and we were greatful to have everyone together. Jeremy was on call and had to report for duty for a few hours, but fortunately he was able to get back and we managed to sqeeze all 11 of us at the dinner table.  Goldie loved having so many potential playmates in the house at once. Scattergories was the game of the evening with Naughty Santa providing some good laughs.  (Jeremy and I ended up with batteries and a manual air pump... sure beats foot powder!)

Mom and Dad were delayed a bit due to icy roads at home. They eventually arrived safely on Christmas day after our dinner guests went home. As usual, they came prepared with more food than we consume in a week. Sorry to say, but I was pooped from having so many guests and I wasn't a very energetic host.  Dad did a great job mending some things around the house that were driving me bonkers for the last year and he enjoyed taking Goldie on early morning walks.  Mom helped with laundry.  It was nice to have the extra set of hands!

Amy and Heath drove down a few days later and we had Christmas all over again. The boys played Wii while the ladies tried to find some good deals at the outlet shops.  Unfortunately, mother nature didn't do a very good job of impressing our guests - it was only in the 40s, which they claimed they could have gotten at home.  But, hey, at least we had sunshine.  Everyone checked out of the Repede Inn on New Year's day and things resumed to their calm state.

Next thing you know, it's practically February. I have no idea what I've been doing, but I do know that I've NOT been putting the Christmas decorations away.  Since I've collected them all and relocated them into one area (the dining room), it seems I just don't care about finishing the job.  Maybe later today...maybe. I'd much rather lay around and enjoy the views of the recent snowfall, which Goldie LOVES. Jeremy took her on a nice long walk today and they were amused at neighbors using the golf course for sledding.  Sure wish I would have had a vehicle to lug my butt back up the hills when I was little!

Lastly, we made plans to take a trip to DC next month to do some long overdue visiting with Ali and Tim in their new place. I hope the weather cooperates so we can get out and be good little DC tourists. If it doesn't, we can always help them with the baby nursery! At this rate, you'll get an update on how that trip goes by mid March.  =)
